Third Text welcomes original contributions from writers from all cultural and practice backgrounds and from all parts of the world. However, we are an English language journal, so if your first language is not English we strongly recommend you have your submission proofread by a native English speaker. This will greatly increase the chances of your article being selected for presentation to our Peer Review panel. We also welcome proposals or submissions of shorter articles, reviews and interviews for possible publication in Third Text Online.
Articles should be between 5,000 and 7,000 words, excluding footnotes; this can be extended to a ceiling of 8,000 words in exceptional cases. Reviews should be between 2,000 and 3,000 words.
Articles are peer-reviewed before being accepted for publication. They will be edited in accordance with Third Text house style and you will receive a proof of your article before it is published.
Third Text no longer uses the ScholarOne submission portal and now handles submissions and peer review through direct editorial correspondence, allowing for a more personal, streamlined and responsive process. Send all submissions, articles, reviews and interviews, for both the print journal and Third Text Online, direct to the Editor in Chief, Richard Dyer, on rdyer@thirdtext.org. Please read carefully the new Submission Guidelines (see below) before submission.
Please make sure your article follows the Third Text Author Guidelines, which can be downloaded below.
Abstracts and keywords are not necessary for Online reviews or interviews.
