Carmen Robertson


Carmen Robertson taught at First Nations University of Canada in the Department of Indian Fine Arts for five years and in 2006 joined the Department of Visual Arts at the University of Regina as an Assistant Professor of Art History in the area of contemporary Indigenous art. Her research includes analysis of the imaginary Indian artist in National Film Board documentaries, constructions of indigeneity in the Canadian press, and an investigation into the political and social themes in the art of Norval Morrisseau. Carmen was born in the Qu’Appelle Valley in southern Saskatchewan and has a mixed ancestry of Scottish, French, and Lakota Sioux.
